Here's the inside story of the vibrant scene that flowered in early-'80s San Diego and performed many of its most crucial shows at UCSD's Ché Cafe.

This "Ché Underground" encompassed a variety of sounds, brought together bands and fans from across the San Diego underground music scene, and spawned collaborations and friendships that have lasted a quarter-century. But it produced few artifacts and monuments -- until now.
