Che Underground: Virus-free since ’83!

Thank you to our members who wrote in yesterday that their antivirus packages were reporting suspicious activity on the blog. And a special note of thanks to one of our resident security experts (who may choose to chime in here): His screening indicates a “false positive”; his diagnosis, that we’re virus-free.

(The alerts seem to have stopped for those who were getting them. You can now resume normal relations with your blogging partners; if redness, discharge or other symptoms recur, please contact our anonymous clinic at cheunderground@gmail.com.)

While we’re talking health and hygiene, a couple of other reminders about safe Che play:

Don’t include your e-mail address (or phone number!!) in public comments.
This is a very trafficked site, and posting that personal information makes it available to very sketchy spammers and other ne’er-do-wells. If you’d like to reconnect with someone, your true-blue admins can drop a line for you, so just send a request to cheunderground@gmail.com.

Besides the blog, enjoy Che Underground: The Forum.
These message boards require (a) you to register again, separately; and (b) that we activate you to participate. After you’ve registered, send a note to cheunderground@gmail.com so we can switch you on. (The forums include a handy private-messaging function that lets you contact other participants discreetly and securely.)

“Public” means public!
Never forget that when you hit that Submit Comment button, your words may be seen forever by employers, creditors, your kids/grandkids, and the government. We’re great, offbeat, creative people, and we should celebrate that — but don’t assume that anything public is under the radar.

Use common sense and the Golden Rule:

  • Strong suggestion: Think twice, count to 50 and take a walk around the block before you cite your own past drug use or serious criminal offenses on the Che Underground blog or forum.
  • Iron-clad rule: Even then, you have the right to “out” yourself only. Don’t implicate others for past activities that might cause them embarrassment today. (Warning your friends in advance before you tell tales is never a bad idea.)
  • I do reserve the right to deny or cancel access to anyone who intentionally exposes our members to embarrassment or discomfort. (This has never been necessary, and any gentle, private reminders about these issues have been greeted with respect and understanding.)

This is a good spot for questions, or if you have — ahem! — personal symptoms, you can pee into the virtual cup at cheunderground@gmail.com .

  1. Great! Now that Jeremiah has identified himself, I can thank him publicly for his quick response to these concerns.

Jeremiah Cornelius is the Jonas Salk of Che Underground!
