OK, Jerry started it…

worksfamilymonkeysSo dear friends…I don’t have recent music projects to regale you with…but I do have my kids…and since Jerry put his up…I thought I should answer in kind. So if our moderator does not find all this too maudlin…

I give you: “The Monkey Picture”

Put ’em up if you got ’em. Or just shoot your goldfish.

Enjoy.

  1. I don’t think I knew you (Patrick) but your kids are a crack up. Nice. Beautiful picture too!

  2. Hey Matt and Company- I tried to post a couple pics and was told:

Anyhow- hopefully my post isn’t lost in the ether-black hole of superfluous posts.

  3. “ok so that’s cool as hell…but who is it?”

My wee little offspring… So much like her mom that it’s like having an absolutely brilliant mind coupled with a person who questions pretty much everything and barring that just doesn’t buy any bullshit.

Her mom’s kid who hesitates to commit felonies only because she knows that stupid shit didn’t get her dad anywhere at all.

  4. Fantastic!

Kids are even better than people. 🙂

Ray, I have to second Matt’s opinion. Lucas is Ray 2.0. Those are the most adorable photos! How old is he now? (The twins just turned 8 yesterday).

  5. Toby, the best way to add pictures? Post your comment without them and save it. Then, hit the “edit” link on your post. This pulls up the “full” editor -- which has an IMG button. If you click that, it opens a dialogue for the URL of your pic.

  6. Thanks, Jerry--for both the kind words and the posting tip. Who would have thought such a bunch of ugly guys such as ourselves would have such beautiful kids? Lucas is four and will be starting kindergarten at Grant Elementary School, next to the Pioneer Park graveyard, in September.

  7. sponge Bob is the most PSYCHEDELIC thing i’ve ever seen.and that IS saying something. He asked me for that tattoo one day so I guess he was motivated.Sailor is presently learning to play guitar, something I still dont know how to do.

  8. Lily is tiny — like, when she was 10, five-year-olds were still coming up to her at shops and asking her to play. She’s concluded (very sensibly) that one of my ukes would be the right size for rockin’. I’ve got a pickup in one, so she’s tour-ready.
Spongebob — hell, yeah! Have you seen the one with Jim Jarmusch and John Lurie as live-action fisherman? (The one about addiction — “the hooks!”) Their pal Tom Waits has also sworn his love for Spongebob … I’m certain he’s singing uncredited on the song that goes “A grill is not a grill …”

  9. Agreed about Sponge Bob.

I can’t watch much TV. But I will always watch this with the kids. REALLY STUPID characters always make me hysterical. Howard Borden, anyone? So Patrick always makes me spit my rootbeer across the fun room.

The open homages to Salvador Dali in the “haunting” scenes? The subtle, psychological horror of the old lady, who ‘adopts’ Gary? All of it priceless.

  10. I remember seeing Jarmush, and getting excited. Trying to explain who that was -- to my kids and my Brother-in-law! “You know, Fred! Remember “Night on Earth?” You know? The one with the cab driver who kills the Cardinal because of his love story about a sheep?.”

    Whoops! Sorry kids!

  11. We too have a deep respect for the sponge. I don’t even have cable but we have a pretty impressive stack of Spongebob DVDs that are in constant rotation.

Thurston Homel Tellier. Super into scooters, motorcycles, bicycles and cars. Who would have guessed?

  14. No kids, but I have a Senegal parrot named Mango. He won the “Dress your pets Padres style” contest for this picture of him wearing a beer cozy. His tiny mug regularly appears lager than life on the jumbotron.

  15. David K: If you’re having problems posting the picture, contact me … We’ll fix you up nice.

My wife and I decided last month that our 17th anniversary would be the Parrot Anniversary, and we bought the family a sun conure … She’s a total doll! (The parrot, not my wife. Although she’s also a total doll.)
