Answers founder/vocalist/guitarist Dave Fleminger has opened up his archives to share a wealth of photographs spanning the band’s illustrious career.

Dave Anderson was amazing…remember his bass drum head “band name here” ’cause he was drumming for 1/2 the bands in our little scene at the same time?
I do remember Ron Silva being an incredible drummer too…occaisionally singing and drumming at the same time which is odd…but he’d pull it off well.
He used to dislike Dave’s style as “too English” which I guess meant quick and poppy with lots of fills…but all us Mod kids thought that was just fine of course!
Funny I haven’t seen any Crawdaddies here. Ray’s as close as we’ve got to them so far.

I’m so glad that you’ve taken the time to tell the story of The Answers…You were always so ahead of the curve, musically, artistically and personally…You’ll always be one of my rock n’ roll heroes!
Awesome photos. Anyone know where Dave Anderson is these days? My friend Karen and I used to call him “Baby Dave” because he always looked about 9 years old.
Cyndie: Mr. Anderson is hale and hearty and lurking among us! And I think he was in the neighborhood of 15, 16 when these photos were taken.
yeah, Dave was very young. I remember picking him up from High School for Gravedigger V practice.
Me and Hanrattie both loved The Answers. We were very young ourselves, still in High School and would go to The Headquarters.
Whatever became of that blue road reflector that appeared on stage with the Answers?
Kristin Martin’s Noise 292 photos reminded me that a questionably obtained road sign also featured in our stage show. The statute of limitations must be up by now … Who else had weird booty from public roadways? How badly did our bands erode the driving conditions of San Diego County?
Amen to Ted: Even if I was a hair older than you GDV kids, the Answers were it for me when I heard ’em. Working on this chronology has made me realize how key that band was to shaking off the last vestiges of an artistic funk I’d been wrestling for a year or more. Putting our own band together started my brain moving again in a forward direction, but listening to the Answers was, like, “KAPOW! Things are going to be OK.”
Must have been the first time I heard The Pink Floyd … was it Lucifer Sam The Answers covered ? The Answers and The Crawdaddys and I guess if you put those bands together and filter them through our semi retarded musical lenses you get The Gravedigger V.

Last time I saw Dave must have been 94, he was playing with Skid Roper. He lives around here in Mission Hills, had a wife …

Ted: Damn straight it was “Lucifer Sam.” It’s ridiculous how many of us were mind-blown by that cover … It reminds of that adage that everyone who heard the first Velvet Underground album started a band: Everyone who heard the Answers play Barrett went off and created something great.
Yup, funny I didn’t realize Flem was British.
We did have a huge influx of immigration from the Commonwealth in those years, didn’t we? It seemed to me like every girl who vacationed in the UK for more than a week came back with candy-colored hair and a heavy British accent.
