Joe Hughes turned me on to Old Greg when I was in ATL. As well as a great video of a song called "(I want to take you to) a Gay Bar" by an artist I don't know, but its freakin' hilarious, with the Abe Lincoln getup. And slightly disturbing in a good way....

I can't help it- it's too hideously hilarious.

Matt- a little eye witness insight into the psyche of the New JErsey Guido, por favor?

Yes, this is just a few miles southeast of us ... I think it's probably Point Pleasant boardwalk, where we go for for the mini-golf but alas, not the phreak dancing. (You ever see the Onion article "Massive Tag Body Spray Slick Spreading from Jersey Shore"? This was actually not satire.)

Who remembers Thoth from SF? He used to haunt the BART stations, and I performed with him once when the Amazons played a cafe out in the Sunset District.

Total trip to run into him in Central Park -- even bigger trip to find him the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary:

That is the damnably weirdest, freakishly odd but yet powerfully compelling person I've ever seen. It is said Peter Ivers could be this ahhh, er, um avant garde (if such a word can be used in this instance). Damn that guy is some kind of whacked out talent!

Johnny Cash must have gotten a kick out of Andy's impression of the King, as Johnny was among the first wave of entertainers to impersonate Mr Swivel Hips.
Mr. Cash has the deconstruction already figured out as he terms his impression as "an impersonation of a rock 'n roll singer impersonating Elvis"..

Andy Kaufman's SNL appearance lip-synching just that one line from the Mighty Mouse theme is chilling brilliance as well (careful, this clip is LOUD).

Kaufman did an amazing impression of E-Man, I always remembered that about him. I recall the Mighty Mouse skit like it was yesterday...

I just have to pass this on....it's made me consider the Osmonds in a whole different way.

Dig the dance moves and the invisible drummer..

Popeyecahn: Strange but true, "Crazy Horses" by the Osmonds was banned by some radio stations that thought it referred to h eroin.

I'm dreaming of a Danger Mouse-style mashup of "Crazy Horses" and Patti Smith's "Horses." Maybe with an intro lifted from "Wild Horses."
